Should my pet be fasted?
Yes! For all surgical procedures it is recommended to have your pet fasted after midnight the night before. A little water is fine. If you have any questions pertaining to medications please contact us prior to your pet’s appointment.
What can I expect on the day of surgery and post-op?
- Please have your pet fasted - no food after midnight the night prior.
- Be sure to have all surgical consents and forms that were emailed to you complete prior to bringing your pet for their drop off appointment.
- Arrive at your appointed surgery admission time and allow 15 minutes for intake.
- After your pet’s surgery you will receive a call from the veterinarian to discuss how your pet did under anesthesia.
- A licensed veterinary technician will discharge your pet to go over at home care, medications, if prescribed, and if a follow up visit is needed.
What elective options are available? What other decisions do I need to make?
For most routine surgeries we offer a variety of elective procedures ranging from pre-anesthetic bloodwork, IV fluids, dental prophylactic care, microchipping, to nail trims. Depending on your pet’s age, breed, and scheduled procedure, some of these may be required by your pet’s veterinarian.
